Funding boost to build better community resilience to natural disasters in NSW

Communities in New South Wales will receive $1.22 million in grants under the Community Resilience Innovation Program to boost their resilience to natural disasters.

The assistance is part of the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State National Partnership Agreement on Natural Disaster Resilience.

The funding will support 14 projects designed to improve disaster resilience in New South Wales and support communities to better withstand natural disasters and minimise impacts.

Sport2030 announcement reinforces commitment to community sports infrastructure grant

The Government has unveiled Sport 2030, a plan to reshape the face of Australian sport and build a healthier, more physically active nation.

In the announcement, Senator the Hon. Bridget McKenzie, Minister for Sport, Minister for Rural Health and Minister for Regional Communications, said the plan will help to get more Australians more active, more often, drive sporting excellence and success, safeguard the integrity of sport, and strengthen the sports industry.

ALGA bids farewell to longest-serving employee

ALGA has this week said a bittersweet goodbye to its longest-serving employee - Mr John Pritchard.

John worked at ALGA for 24 years and in that time, he worked tirelessly and has seen the sector through some of its most challenging and significant achievements: securing Roads to Recovery funding, the signing of the historic Intergovernmental Agreement on Cost Shifting between the three levels of government, and getting within an arm's reach of Constitutional Recognition to name a few.
